Grandma's Diary, Part 15

Alice is her sister.
Kenneth is her brother.

          H = her boyfriend, Hazel Avery Plumlee
          Delma = Hazel's little sister
          Earl = Hazel's brother
          Verda = Earl's wife
          Dorothy Lee = Hazel's niece (Earl's, child)
          Otho is Otho Hesser, her father's cousin.
          Viella is Otho's wife.
          Uncle Jont is Jonathan Hesser, Otho's father and her father's uncle.
          Aunt Kate is Sarah Katherine Hall Hesser, Jonathan's wife and Otho's mother
          Herman (Williams) is Alice's boyfriend.

Sun.,  April 16 - Easter:  "Alice, H. & I went to S.S.  Hessers were here to dinner.  Kenneth came about 5 am.  He stayed till next morning.  H., Joe & Caroline & I went to Palm Springs.  In evening H. & I tried to put a jig-saw puzzle together."

Mon., April 17:  "It is quite cold this morning.  We washed.  I went with H. to Yucaipa.  Ate dinner with Verda.  Saw Clara & Clint.  Went up to Plumlees & H. made a table to make boxes on.  Alice got her diamond." 
 
Tues., April 18:  "It is cold & rainy.  H. came over a little while in the morning.  I went to Yucaipa for groceries.  H. came over in the eve. & we put a jig-saw puzzle almost together."


Wed., April 19:  "Snowed a little during the night.  In the evening we went to see where a fire was, & found it was a brush fire.  H. came over for awhile."

Thurs., April 20:  "It is still cloudy & cold.  We got our first strawberries today.  I took mama to Hessers & they went to Missionary Meeting.  I went to Yucaipa.  Saw Lucile & Clara.  Went up to Plumlees & helped Mrs. Plumlee quilt."

Fri., April 21:  "Alice won a dollar & a plant for writing an essay on Roadside Beauty.  H. came over in the evening & we went up to the Packing House & made 50 boxes."

Sat., April 22:  "It is quite warm today.  Uncle Jont is very ill.  We went to San Berdo.  Stopped at Norahs & Uncle Jonts.  I got a permanent.  H. took me home.  Alice, H. & I went to Hessers to a party in the eve."

And this week, a bonus from the child "Liz" who wrote on April 16, 1974:  "My cat died, in Jacksonville, Fla. On clide Street.  he was two years old."  How sad.
